PRESENTATION OF THE BOOK 'MARE MAGNUM NOSTRUM'
13 apr 2023
Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Viale delle Belle Arti, Roma, RM, Italia
Thursday, April 13, 2023, at 5:30 PM at the Sala delle Colonne of the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome, Silvana Editoriale invites you to the presentation of the book Mare Magnum Nostrum by Gea Casolaro, curated by Leonardo Regano. A winner of the Italian Council, the book will be presented alongside Molto visibile, troppo invisibile (Vanilla Edizioni), which delves into the themes of the eponymous exhibition by Gea Casolaro held at The Gallery Apart in Rome.
Mare Magnum Nostrum is a project curated by Leonardo Regano in which Gea Casolaro reflects on how the sea, shared by many populations, can become a tragic place of separation following the great shipwreck off the coast of Lampedusa on October 3, 2013, where over 350 lives were lost.
The participatory art project, supported by the eighth edition of Italian Council, was developed with the collaboration of the public, who contributed photos taken along the shores of our sea: vacation photos, departures, tragedies, protests, work, of all kinds and times.

Cecilia Canziani, Curator and Art Historian
Gea Casolaro, Artist
Enrico Castelli Gattinara, Epistemologist and Philosopher
Michele Colucci, Historian and Researcher at the CNR - Institute for Mediterranean Studies
